Created in 1991, the mission of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) is to promote the development of high-level research in universities and to strengthen interdisciplinarity. The Associate/Full Professors who are appointed (for the year 2021: starting October 1st, 2021 for the next five years) are distinguished for the excellence of their scientific activity, attested by their international influence. Each member is thus relieved of two-thirds of his/her teaching duties and benefits from specific research credits paid each year to his/her laboratory.
