First CreackFest 21-25 May 2012 Lyon : improving bbGEditor from creaTools

After the first CreaTools CreackFest, we have new features in our applications and some corrected bugs. We have worked specially in bbGEditor (Graphical Editor for BBTK) and bbtk viewers.

Here are just a few new features of bbGEditor:

  • Undo/redo
  • Drag-and-drop black boxes from package browser into canvas
  • Hints for allowed connections among boxes
  • Thicker connection line to ease its manipulation
  • A more useful and practical layout for the package browser
  • Tabs continue working when they are closed
  • Tab notification (*) when it has not been saved
  • Visual refresh for unselected boxes
  • Correction in loading diagram process
  • Move diagram with drag using the middle button, not only with Shift+Left click drag
  • Text fields in black box settings dialog are bigger
  • HTML documentation can be opened in Tool menu
  • File extension (bbg, bbs) is added when saving a diagram
  • "Open diagram" option in the File menu
  • Change box names in box settings dialog

Others...

  • CreaTools installation does no longer stop at the documentation generation step

Things you should know

  • All the main programs included in CreaTools can be run with creaTools executable in Windows or creaTools.sh in a console Linux/Mac.
  • Working with CreaTools projects in Linux and Mac: The most of these updates can be easily updated by all CreaTools users with access to CVS. You must go (in a console or terminal) into the CreaTools installation directory -> creatools_source -> bbtk. Execute cvs update. When the update process has finished, go into creatools_bin folder and execute make install.  The new bbtk version will be updated. Follow the same process with bbGEditor project !! HTML installers will be put online soon.
  • Other features are being corrected and added in creaMaracasVisu project, specially with Viewers functionalities. Future work will be focused on new installers for Windows, new tools to make easier the project, package and box creation, and CreaTools documentation.
