[Vv] VV installation error

Hi Catarina 
You can modify the respective CMakefiles to include the 
-march= switch, -mtune= switch options to the compiler

I had similar issues compiling on Red Hat Linux and tweaking the Cmakefiles
solved the issue
I dont remember the exact lines, but I can try to search it if you want the
exact statements

Thanks for the fast answer, I really appreciate it. The versions currently
installed are:

gcc- 4.1.2
vtk- 5.4.2
qt- 4.6.3
itk- 3.20.0
