It looks very promising. Just a few comments:

* In your project homepage the download link to the source
   package is broken. It should read .../bin20040206/gdcm-0.4.zip
   instead of .../gdcm-0.4.tar.gz.

* The zipped files are DOS encoded, so they must be extracted
   with `unzip -a ...' on Unix/Linux. Otherwise the installation
   scripts won't run.

* I had to run autogen.sh twice, as config.sub is not generated
   on the first run. Maybe this should be fixed.

Anyway, I'd also say it's definitely a good candidate for
Debian-Med. :-)
